Ana Peláez Narváez, blind from birth, was born in Spain in 1966.

Ana holds degrees in Science of Education and Psychology from Seville University and a Master’s Degree in Special Needs for People with Disabilities. She also attended PhD courses at Salamanca University.

Ana has served as an expert on the CEDAW Committee since 2019 and she was re-elected to serve a second term until December 31st 2026. She is currently Vice-Chair of the Committee for the period 2021-2022.

Ana is Executive Vice-President at CERMI Women’s Foundation (the umbrella organisation for women with disabilities in Spain), High Commissioner for Solidarity and International Co-operation at the ONCE (Spanish National Organisation of the Blind) Social Group, and Secretary General of the European Disability Forum (EDF), where she also chairs the Women’s Committee.

Ana served as a member of the UNCRPD Committee from 2009 to 2016 and as Board member of the European Women’s Lobby from 2010 to 2014.

Ana’s working languages are Spanish, English and French.
